Carluse Baird, or “Mr. Cee,” wears many hats.
He’s a chef, a BCS School Nutrition staff member, a school bus driver, and a published author. His most recent book, “Riding to School on Mr. Cee’s Bus,” combines fun quips and information to help students learn bus safety. It explores the bus through all five senses, relates some of Mr. Cee’s personal experiences, and emphasizes the importance of positive relationships.
“When I pick up kids, I want to get them to the school and back home safely,” he said. “I’m paying close attention to the road. I want the kids and families to know that riding the bus is a safe experience. We’ve got some great drivers. They’re wonderful to work with, and they put the safety of our children first.”
Mr. Cee drives a school bus at Emma Elementary School and serves lunches at Martin L. Nesbitt, Jr. Discovery Academy. He also runs Gifted Hands Catering LLC, and his previous book, “Gifted Hands Soul Food Cookbook: A Culinary Creation,” released in 2021.
Mr. Cee is a father of four and a grandfather of 13. He has worked with children for the past 30 years and has been a school bus driver for six years. He says it has been a journey and he loves it.
“Our kids love him and look forward to him taking them home every day,” said Emma Elementary Principal Carla Shipman. “At Emma, we always talk about being a leader in the community, and Mr. Cee shows how you can do multiple things to contribute and be a leader.”
