Arcade Day at Emma!

Emma Elementary's 2nd graders participated in Arcade Day. Students were inspired by a video of Caine's Arcade, where a young man from Los Angeles, builds a cardboard arcade to entertain himself during the summer at his father's auto parts store. Emma 2nd graders designed and created their own cardboard arcade games at home, and shared their games with each other in the 2nd grade hall for an afternoon of fun.

Arcade Day has been celebrated at Emma for many years in conjunction with Field Day. We were excited to bring back this tradtion at Emma this year. Arcade Day ignites our student's creativity, and problem solving skills, as they find ways to bring their favorite games to life in cardboard and other household materials. This project also gives families an opportunity to work on a project together. The 2nd grade team of teachers, LuAnne Branson, Becca Doub, Danielle Harris, Cara Pollard, and Nicole Revis, watched in amazement as some awesome games were brought to school. "Our students were so excited for Arcade Day. Some students said, it was the best day ever." -2nd grade
