Administration

Ms. Cox

Principal, Emily Cox

Greetings, Enka-Candler families! I am looking forward to partnering with you to support your child at Enka Intermediate.
I was born and raised in the southwestern Virginia mountains. After earning my bachelor's degree at Emory & Henry College, I moved to the Asheville area and began my career as an educator in the Enka-Candler community in 2001. I have proudly served this community in that capacity ever since that time. I spent 15 years as a classroom teacher at the elementary and middle school levels. After earning my MSA at Western Carolina University, I had the pleasure of serving as an administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Not only do I work in this community, but I live here and have raised my children here. My son, Aiden, and daughter, Elise, both attend Enka High School and have gone through the Enka district schools. I love to read, hike, ski, and listen to music!
I care deeply about the success of this community's children, and I look forward to continuing my work here. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me by phone (828) 255-1380 or by email: emily.cox@bcsemail.org.

Welcome to Enka Intermediate School!

I was born and raised in the Candler community and I'm thrilled to be at Enka Intermediate. After graduating from Enka High School I continued my education at Western Carolina University earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Go Cats!. I then went to teach at Candler Elementary from 2013-2023. During my time at Candler I was a first and third grade teacher as well as the Title 1 Reading Specialist. I completed my Master's Degree in School Administration- Executive Leadership at Gardner-Webb University. Go Bulldogs!

As I mentioned above, I am a native of Candler. My husband and I still live in the community. We have a daughter named Jillian who is the highlight of our lives. We love to spend our time together as a family traveling, going to the lake, biking, skiing, snowboarding, and any other fun outdoor activities.

I look forward to building relationships with all students and families here at Enka Intermediate as well as helping all students grow and become successful in all they do.

Assistant Principal, Katie Robinson

Hi, Enka-Candler Families. My name is Katie Robinson, and I am thrilled to be part of the Enka Community. My goal is to continue the tradition of maintaining a safe environment where students feel comfortable being at school so they are ready to learn each day.

As a former Sugar Jet, I played volleyball and graduated from Enka High School in 2008.

I began my career in Buncombe County Schools at Leicester Elementary School as a Title I Assistant while I attended Mars Hill University to obtain my Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education. Once I graduated, I began teaching at West Buncombe Elementary School. I was able to serve as a second grade teacher and a Title I reading specialist at West Buncombe Elementary School. I obtained a Master’s Degree in School Administration from WCU through the principal fellows program, where I served as a full time assistant principal intern at Koontz Intermediate.  Most recently I have served Eblen Intermediate School as their assistant principal.
