Next Meeting March 12, 2019 at 7:00 AM

  1. Homework: SIT motioned to finish out the school year as your homework stands. Next school year, SIT voted 4th grade will continue with math and reading homework. Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade will send home a book and reading log for homework. If a parent requests additional support at home, teachers will send home an enrichment packet. Each grade level will create a reading log to send home and remove the parent signature line from log. The homework line on the conduct sheet needs to be removed. The Working Lunch decision has been tabled until next month’s meeting.

  2. Teachers Accompanying Students to the Lunchroom: Teachers are required to walk students to the cafeteria.

  3. Acoustics for STEM Lab (Noise Level): Mrs. Shipman will talk to Mr. Lee about putting in a work order to buffer the sound in the STEM lab.

  4. Murals and Flags in Cafeteria: The Leadership Environment action team has been collaborating with a team of artists from Warren Wilson College. The goal of each mural is to make sure that each piece is tied to the TLIM habits. The cafeteria mural will happen during stage 2 of the grant. The flags will be taken down and cleaned. The future of the flags will be discussed at our March meeting.

  5. Red Cups in Cafeteria: Mrs. Whitten motioned to remove the cups from lunch. SIT approved the motion to remove the cups during lunch.

  6. Parent Engagement: Please make sure every parent, volunteer, and/or visitor feels welcomed at Emma. Remember, every classroom should have a classroom greeter. Kindergarten Tours are scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at 9:00 and 1:00

  7. Title I Updates: The Title I Parent Survey will be sent home in March. Our Comprehensive Needs Assessment is due in May.

The meeting adjourned at 8:10 AM.

Respectfully submitted,
