Emma Elementary School showed its pride during Tuesday’s Leadership Day.

Emma is the only elementary school in the county to exceed expected academic growth five years in a row, and its Leader in Me program is in its second year. On Tuesday, students, faculty, and families celebrated those successes with songs, classroom visits, a living wax museum, and a parade of the 21 countries represented at the school.

“I know what it’s like to be a leader,” said fourth-grader and class president Julia Darity. “It’s being a role model. It’s having responsibilities. Leaders have to stand up and do what’s right, even if it’s hard.”

Emma Elementary School aims to make every child a leader at school and at home by involving them in their own personal and educational growth.
