Meet the Teacher
Welcome to the Art Room
Ms. Cindy Boyle
Emma Elementary School

Hello, my name is Cindy Boyle, and I teach visual arts at Emma Elementary. I grew up in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and attended Meredith College, where I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. I worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for over 15 years in the Raleigh area. I knew that I wanted to continue my career as an artist but I was ready for a change. After moving to Asheville in 2017, I realized this was the perfect time to pursue my dream of teaching art to children.

I believe, with all my heart, that art education plays a vital role in a student’s complete education. It teaches students to make decisions and problem-solve. Art gives children the freedom to make choices where there isn’t only one “right” answer. It gives them a sense of value and accomplishment. Furthermore, art is everywhere in our culture! We see it in technology, math, writing, science, and history.

I want to offer a fun, engaging learning environment that inspires creativity. It’s my job to help students gain the skills and confidence they need to communicate their ideas effectively and make art that is meaningful to them. Seeing their excitement and watching them grow makes my heart so proud. I love my job!
